Whilst the popularity of arctic surf trips has been growing amongst pros for the last few years, it now seems intermediate and even amateur surfers are looking for the unique wave riding experience that comes from travelling to and going surfing in these remote wintery wonderlands.
Unstad, located in the The Loftofen Islands north of Norway, is the world’s most northerly surf school, where instructors teach learners, dressed head to tow in rubber, in the shadow of towering snow capped mountains. The island hosts fun waves, interesting Nordic culture and breathtaking scenery, as well as offering visitors the chance to see the Northern Lights.
