Ramon Navarro Journeys Deep Into South America To Surf An Unchartered River Bore

Following the disappearance of the Pororoca, Ramon Navarro journeys deep into the jungle to find an alternative, and stumbles upon an uncharted river bore.

Here’s a documentary featuring Chilean big wave surfer Ramón Navarro journeying deep into South America in search of an uncharted river wave.

After the disappearance of  the world famous Amazon river bore, Navarro looks to a more remote river located on a small island just off the coast of Brazil, where word is another ‘Pororoca’ breaks. He sets off on a boat, travelling deep into a jungle to a stretch of river infested with caimans and piranhas, and probably those fish that try and swim up your pipe when you’re having a whaz.

The film documents the trials and tribulations of the trip, with interesting insight from a biologist who explains the mixture of natural and man made factors which lead to the disappeared of the previous bore.

Ramon also meets a local kid who lives on the bank of the river, and takes to the wave on an old fridge door. Click here to cyber-fly to The Red Bull site to watch the film in its entirety.
