When A Rescue At Nazaré Goes Horribly Wrong Here's what happens after Pedro Scooby's XXL Ride Of The Year nomination at Nazaré

You’ve already seen a good dose of the carnage that went down at Nazaré last week, and some of the insane XXL nominations that have come from the swell, and now here’s a clip showing what happens when it all goes a bit wrong.

The clip features an aerial view of Pedro Scooby’s Ride Of The Year nomination, the land angle of which you can see here, and documents what went down after (some) of the cameras stopped rolling.

In it we see Pedro take a bit of a tumble at the end of his ride, before popping up after what looks like a pretty nasty hold down, detached from his board, at which time he is quickly picked up by tow partner and fellow Brazilian Lucas Chumbo.

It’s not all flowers out there

The two then gun it to out run a wave, which rears up ominously, before sending a cascade of white water after the fleeing Brazilians. Unfortunately the pair hit a soupy patch on the inside and as Chumbo tries to turn, the ski slips out and the boys go flying.

Unsurprisingly it didn’t take Pedro and Lucas long to pick themselves up and dust themselves off and the pair even returned to Nazaré the next day for a paddle session, where Pedro once again took a nasty spill and ended up with a head injury. Later he summed it all up quite nicely in a post on his instagram saying: ‘It’s not all flowers out there, it wasn’t my first [nasty wipeout] and it won’t be my last, hazards of the job’.
