The Many Novelty Waves of Newquay Bay

Imagine you’ve never been to Newquay. Now, open Google Maps and have a look at the outline of the Bay. Doesn’t it strike you as a perfect surf zone? Optimally angled out of the prevailing wind, but not so much that Atlantic swell misses it completely. Its favourable geography includes a long headland, a sweeping crescent of sand and over a dozen rocky outcrops. 

Surely, you’d assume, that would lead to all sorts of excellent banks. Maybe, you’d even wager there are long peeling waves in the lee of that headland. But you’d be wrong. Very wrong.
