Wavelength Welcomes Ex-Surfline Editor As New Digital Director

Wavelength is excited to announce that Jason Lock has joined the team as Digital Director, bringing with him a wealth of experience in content and marketing strategy, brand management and editorial leadership.

For the past nine years, Jason led content and editorial efforts at magicseaweed as Global Managing Editor, before moving over to Surfline as Senior Editorial Manager, EMEA. In these roles, he spearheaded the growth of both brands across multiple platforms, shaping the way surf media engaged audiences across Europe and beyond.

“I’m stoked to join the Wavelength team,” said Jason. “There’s a mighty crew already in place here, and I’m looking forward to planning and launching a revamped digital offering with them. My aim is to form new partnerships, forge on with existing ones, and deliver some exciting content ideas that will put British and European surfing first.”

“Wavelength Magazine, established in 1981, has been a cornerstone of British and European surf culture,” said Chris Thomson, Managing Director at Wavelength. “In 2024, it transitioned into a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC), dedicated to supporting surfers, photographers, writers, and videographers within the UK and European surf communities. Bringing Jason onto the team underscores Wavelength’s commitment to fostering and celebrating the vibrant and diverse surf culture across the region.”

Issue 266, the latest edition, continues this tradition by exploring the roots of UK and Irish surf culture. It delves into stories of resilience, transformation, and the dynamic evolution of cold-water surfing communities. Issue 267 is due out in Summer 2025 ahead of the UK Surf & Skate Expo, of which Wavelength is a media partner.
