WQS Warrior Jean da Silva Passes Away Aged 32

The surf community is in mourning after the tragic news broke that the incredibly talented Jean Da Silva has died.

25th November 2017

This morning news spread that 32 year old Brazilian QS warrior Jean Da Silva has passed away.

Much of the surf community learnt the of the tragedy as they arrived at Sunset Beach for the start of the Vans World Cup, with a paddle out in his honour carried out first thing this morning.

Tributes have been pouring in ever since for the talented goofy-foot from Santa Caterina, who has been grinding on the QS since 2011 and very nearly qualified in 2013.

So sad to wake up to this news. I always loved your vibe you brought to every place I saw you. It was a mixture of super happy, cool, respectful and elegant. Not to mention you were an amazing surfer. Rest in peace my friend @jeandasilva ❤️

Whilst the cause of death has not yet been confirmed, initial reports are suggesting Da Silva may have taken his own life.

Our deepest condolences go out to Jean’s family and friends.
